01Angul at a glance
Solar for homes and industry across Angul, Talcher and Kaniha
Angul (Anugola) stretches from the Mahanadi on its southern boundary to the Malyagiri range above Pallahara, with the Brahmani flowing past Talcher. Its four subdivisions, Angul, Talcher, Athamallik and Pallahara, combine a major industrial belt with forested uplands that include part of the Satkosia Tiger Reserve.
The district economy rests on coal, aluminium and power: the NALCO smelter and its captive power plant, NTPC’s Talcher-Kaniha station, the JSPL steel plant and Mahanadi Coalfields on the Talcher coalfield. In October 2026 Mahanadi Coalfields tendered 1,086 kW of grid-connected rooftop solar for non-residential buildings at its Jagannath mine, which lies on the Talcher coalfield in Angul (GEM Wiki).
For households, the case for rooftop solar starts with long, hot summers. HELLOCON designs and installs rooftop systems for houses in Angul town, Talcher and Kaniha, and commercial and industrial systems for the townships, ancillary units and offices around them, all coordinated from our head office in Bhubaneswar.

02Heat and industrial dust
Engineering rooftop solar for Talcher’s heat and coal-belt dust
Angul is regularly among the hottest places in Odisha. The district plan records 47.0 °C in May 2018, and during the 2024 heatwave the town recorded 44.7 °C, then the highest reading of the season in Odisha. Module output falls as cell temperature rises, so the design and the yield estimate for an Angul roof account for summer conditions rather than the nameplate rating alone.
Near mines, power stations, haul roads and industrial estates, dust can settle on modules quickly. The survey plans safe washing access and a cleaning routine with the owner, and on factory sheds it checks the sheet profile, purlin spacing and walkway routes before the layout is fixed. HELLOCON manufactures the GI solar panel mounting structures it installs, made to each roof.
Ventilated mounting
Module height and row spacing that keep air moving under the array through May and June.
Cleaning plan
Safe access and a washing routine matched to the dust near mines, plants and busy roads.
Sheet-roof layout
For sheds and workshops, rows fixed to the sheet profile and purlins, with clear walkways.
03TPCODL connection
Application and metering steps for a TPCODL connection
Check the utility on your electricity bill first; a district name alone does not identify every connection. For a TPCODL household connection, use the national portal together with the utility’s current instructions.
Angul sits in TPCODL’s Dhenkanal Electrical Circle, which runs the Angul Electrical Division and the Talcher Electrical Division at Chainpal; TPCODL also supplies Pallahara in the north. These division names are indicative, so go by the office printed on your bill.
- Register the consumer connection on the official PM Surya Ghar portal and follow its application, feasibility and load-related instructions.
- Check the vendor available for that application and agree the equipment, installation and metering responsibilities in writing.
- Complete the required installation records and coordinate the utility’s inspection, meter arrangements and commissioning.
- Retain the commissioning documents and follow the official assistance-claim process. Approval and payment timings depend on the authorities.

06Questions
Questions about rooftop and industrial solar in Angul
Does HELLOCON take on commercial and industrial solar projects in Angul and Talcher?
Yes. HELLOCON designs, supplies and installs rooftop and on-grid systems for factories, workshops, commercial buildings and institutions in the district, and offers operation and maintenance after commissioning. Share the sanctioned load, recent bills and roof drawings, and the team will schedule a site survey from our head office in Bhubaneswar.
How is a rooftop system in Angul designed for 45 °C summers?
Angul reached 44.7 °C during the 2024 heatwave, then the highest reading of the season in Odisha. The design allows for high cell temperatures: modules sit on a ventilated GI structure with an air gap underneath, the inverter goes in a shaded, ventilated spot, and the yield estimate uses summer conditions.
Which TPCODL office handles net metering for a Talcher home?
Talcher falls under TPCODL’s Talcher Electrical Division at Chainpal and Angul town under the Angul Electrical Division, both in the Dhenkanal Electrical Circle. Confirm the office named on your electricity bill, then follow our TPCODL net-metering guide.
