01Eastern Ghats plateau
Rooftop and commercial solar for Koraput, Jeypore, Sunabeda and Damanjodi
Koraput sits in the Eastern Ghats on two plateaus, at roughly 3,000 ft and 2,000 ft, with Deomali near Pottangi described as Odisha’s highest peak. Its two subdivisions, Koraput and Jeypore (Jayapur in the Odisha Gazette notice of 22 June 2026), cover 14 blocks. The Kolab feeds the Kolab Dam south of Koraput town, the Machkund drops 540 ft at Duduma, and the Indravati also crosses the district.
The towns are varied for a hill district. HAL’s factory at Sunabeda employs about 6,000 engineers and technicians, and NALCO’s alumina refinery at Damanjodi about 2,500, according to the district administration. Jeypore is described as the business hub of southern Odisha, with rice- and cashew-processing units, an airport and Vikram Dev University. Cashew is Koraput’s One District One Product, with 66 units listed, and Koraput Kalajeera rice received a GI tag in 2024.
Township and trade towns create steady demand for home rooftops, while processing units and rice mills can put daytime solar to work during their operating hours. HELLOCON is a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor with TPSODL and plans Koraput projects from our head office in Bhubaneswar.

03Plateau rain and cool winters
Rooftop solar for Koraput’s plateau monsoon and cool winters
Rainfall in Koraput is about 160 cm on the 3,000 ft plateau and about 190 cm around Jeypore. Summers are mild for Odisha, with a mean maximum of about 34.1 °C, and winter nights fall to a mean minimum of about 10.4 °C. Sunabeda sits at about 1,000 m and Jeypore at 659 m.
That climate shifts the engineering emphasis from heat to water. The survey checks how roof penetrations will be sealed, where rainwater drains off the slab and how cable entries are protected through a long monsoon, and it looks at shade from ridges and trees, which changes through the year. HELLOCON’s GI mounting structures are made to the roof and the project design, with a layout that keeps drains clear.
Sealed roof penetrations
Anchors and cable entries sealed for a monsoon that brings 160 to 190 cm of rain.
Drainage left clear
Array rows laid out so slab drains and outlets stay reachable for cleaning.
Ridge and tree shade
Shade from hills and trees checked across the seasons, not on a single day.
04TPSODL connection
Application and metering steps for a TPSODL connection
Check the utility on your electricity bill first; a district name alone does not identify every connection. For a TPSODL household connection, use the national portal together with the utility’s current instructions.
Koraput is served by TPSODL’s Jeypore Electrical Circle, which has divisions at Koraput and Jeypore. The Superintending Engineer of Jeypore Circle and the Executive Engineer of Koraput Division attended the district’s Solar Rath launch on 16 October 2026.
- Register the consumer connection on the official PM Surya Ghar portal and follow its application, feasibility and load-related instructions.
- Check the vendor available for that application and agree the equipment, installation and metering responsibilities in writing.
- Complete the required installation records and coordinate the utility’s inspection, meter arrangements and commissioning.
- Retain the commissioning documents and follow the official assistance-claim process. Approval and payment timings depend on the authorities.

06Questions
Questions about rooftop solar in Koraput and Jeypore
Which TPSODL office handles rooftop solar in Koraput and Jeypore?
Koraput district is in TPSODL’s Jeypore Electrical Circle, with electrical divisions at Koraput and Jeypore. HELLOCON is a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor with TPSODL; our TPSODL net-metering guide explains the application and metering steps.
Can cashew and rice processing units in Jeypore use rooftop solar?
Yes, where the roof and the connection suit it. Cashew is Koraput’s One District One Product, with 66 processing units listed, mostly in Jeypore subdivision, and Jeypore also has rice-processing units. HELLOCON designs and installs commercial and industrial rooftop systems for such units and offers O&M after installation.
Is a solar water heater useful in Koraput?
On the plateau the mean winter minimum is about 10.4 °C, so hot water is needed for much of the year. A solar water heater can sit beside a rooftop solar plant; the survey checks roof space, water supply and pipe runs for both.
