01Bargarh at a glance
Rooftop solar for homes, farms and rice mills in Bargarh
Bargarh (Baragada) was carved out of Sambalpur district on 1 April 1993 and lies on an open plain broken by small hill ranges, in the Western Central Table Land agro-climatic zone. Its two subdivisions, Bargarh and Padampur, cover twelve blocks from Attabira and Bheden to Paikmal and Gaisilat.
Bargarh is often called the rice bowl of Odisha. Hirakud dam irrigation keeps the northern half of the district productive in every season, while the agriculture office records erratic rain hurting kharif crops in the Padampur subdivision and in Bhatli and Ambabhona blocks. The district has more than 100 rice mills, and Bargarh town stages Dhanu Yatra, an eleven-day open-air festival with National Festival status.
Rooftop solar has moved quickly here: TPWODL figures published on 2 September 2026 show 10,634 rooftop installations in Bargarh district, the highest in that list. HELLOCON plans home, farm and rice-mill systems across Bargarh from our head office in Bhubaneswar.

03TPWODL connection
Application and metering steps for a TPWODL connection
Check the utility on your electricity bill first; a district name alone does not identify every connection. For a TPWODL household connection, use the national portal together with the utility’s current instructions.
TPWODL’s Bargarh Circle, with its office at Bandutika Chowk in Bargarh, runs the Bargarh and Bargarh West electrical divisions. The division on your bill processes the net-metering application for a Bargarh connection.
- Register the consumer connection on the official PM Surya Ghar portal and follow its application, feasibility and load-related instructions.
- Check the vendor available for that application and agree the equipment, installation and metering responsibilities in writing.
- Complete the required installation records and coordinate the utility’s inspection, meter arrangements and commissioning.
- Retain the commissioning documents and follow the official assistance-claim process. Approval and payment timings depend on the authorities.
04Extreme climate
Rooftop solar for Bargarh’s 10 °C to 48 °C climate
The district agriculture office describes Bargarh’s climate as extreme, with temperatures from 10 °C to 48 °C. Bargarh town recorded 44.4 °C on 30 April 2022 and 41.8 °C on 13 May 2025, and it was again among Odisha’s towns at 40 °C or above on 24 May 2026.
Average rainfall of 1,367 mm arrives unevenly, so roofs spend long spells dry and hot. A Bargarh installation is planned with an air gap under the modules, an inverter on a shaded, ventilated wall and access for washing, on a GI structure HELLOCON manufactures for the roof.
Air gap for hot roofs
Raised rows that let heat escape from beneath the modules on concrete terraces and sheds.
Inverter out of the sun
A ventilated, shaded position with clearance for service.
Washing access
A safe route and a water point for cleaning through the dry months.
05Rice mill survey
What a Bargarh rice mill survey covers
A rice mill’s load pattern and its roof structure decide the system, so the survey looks at both. On the roof the team checks the sheet type and condition, purlin spacing, slope and orientation, husk and bran dust near the sheets, and any adjoining land that could take a ground-mounted section.
Share twelve months of bills and the sanctioned load before the visit. The written proposal then sets out the system size, the connection arrangement with TPWODL and the maintenance plan for the mill.

07Questions
Questions about solar for homes and rice mills in Bargarh
Can HELLOCON build solar for a rice mill in Bargarh?
Yes. HELLOCON designs rooftop and on-grid systems for Bargarh rice mills and other agro-processing units, handles supply, installation and commissioning, and offers maintenance afterwards. Start with twelve months of bills, the sanctioned load and a photograph of the shed roof.
How widespread is rooftop solar in Bargarh?
TPWODL figures published on 2 September 2026 show 10,634 rooftop solar installations in Bargarh district, the highest figure in that district-wise list.
Do solar pumps suit farms in the Padampur subdivision?
The agriculture office reports that erratic rain often hurts kharif crops in the Padampur subdivision and in Bhatli and Ambabhona blocks. A solar pump on a borewell or dug well can support those fields; HELLOCON sizes it after checking the water source and the area to be irrigated.
