Begin with operating demand
Gather electricity bills, working hours, major loads and any available interval-consumption records. A factory, warehouse, school and office can have different weekday and seasonal demand. Rated solar capacity is not a financial result by itself. Compare the proposed generation profile with when the business uses electricity, and record planned expansion or shutdown periods. The commercial solar service page describes the initial assessment; final sizing belongs to the actual site and connection.
Assess the roof and access agreement
Review the roof condition, supporting structure, usable area, shade, drainage and safe access. For a leased property, establish rights to install, maintain and remove equipment before committing to a long-lived arrangement. Ask how roof repairs, waterproofing and later building work are handled. Structural assessment and wind exposure should be addressed by the responsible professionals rather than inferred from a neighbouring plant or a generic mounting photograph.
Compare ownership and service models
A customer-owned CAPEX project and a third-party service or RESCO proposal allocate cost, ownership and operating responsibilities differently. Request the actual commercial agreement where a third party is involved. Compare term, payment basis, maintenance, insurance, access, equipment replacement, early termination and end-of-term treatment. These are options to investigate, not a statement that HELLOCON currently offers finance or a particular RESCO tariff. Odisha’s renewable-energy policy provides wider policy context; the specific project still needs applicable approvals and contract review.
Confirm the connection and metering arrangement
Identify the utility, supply voltage, sanctioned load and proposed electrical integration. Check the current regulatory and DISCOM requirements for self-consumption, exports and settlement. Do not model all generated units at the retail tariff without establishing how they are used or credited. The OERC regulations directory is an official starting point for applicable requirements. Any process summary should be checked against the actual consumer connection and current utility instructions.
Request an equipment and commissioning schedule
Compare named module and inverter models, structure, cable routes, protection, monitoring and installation work. Identify shutdown windows, civil work and exclusions, together with the required tests and handover records. Agree how equipment substitutions are approved. The solar EPC guide explains the responsibilities from survey to commissioning. Household PM Surya Ghar assistance should not be applied to a commercial quotation.
Keep financial assumptions and evidence visible
An assessment should identify energy assumptions, on-site use, exports, charges, maintenance and the chosen ownership model. Ask which figures are estimates and which come from measured operation. Module, inverter, structure and workmanship terms need their own written schedules. Request application-matched commercial references and the offered model-specific warranties, then discuss the actual business site before relying on an investment estimate.
This guide explains general system principles. Final technical suitability and scheme eligibility require project-specific review.
