01Balangir at a glance
Rooftop solar and solar pumps for Balangir and Titlagarh
Balangir (Bolangir in TPWODL and OERC documents) is a large western district of undulating plains at 200-300 m, cut by Eastern Ghats ranges that rise to 983 m at Gandhamardan (CGWB). The Tel and its tributaries, the Suktel, Lant and Indra, drain most of it, with the Ong in the north. Three subdivisions, Balangir, Patnagarh and Titlagarh, hold fourteen blocks.
Water decides most farm incomes here. The district agriculture office reports no perennial irrigation system apart from a very small Hirakud command area; net irrigated area is 19.94% of cultivated land, and kharif irrigation relies on dug wells, tube wells and lift points. Its list of drought years runs from 1974 to 2017, which makes solar pumping a priority in the district.
Rooftop solar is spreading across Balangir too, as TPWODL’s district figures show. HELLOCON plans pump and rooftop systems across the district from our head office in Bhubaneswar.

02Titlagarh heat
Rooftop and pump design for Titlagarh’s record heat
Titlagarh was Odisha’s hottest town at 45.8 °C on 24 May 2026, when Balangir town recorded 45 °C, and on 21 April 2016 it was the hottest place in India at 47.5 °C. The district agriculture office notes that summer maximums sometimes exceed 50 °C, with May the hottest month.
Heat shapes both kinds of system in Balangir. Rooftop arrays go on raised GI structures with open space beneath and the inverter in shade, while pump controllers are housed out of direct sun with room for air to circulate. HELLOCON manufactures the GI structures and agrees a cleaning routine with each owner for the dry season.

03TPWODL connection
Application and metering steps for a TPWODL connection
Check the utility on your electricity bill first; a district name alone does not identify every connection. For a TPWODL household connection, use the national portal together with the utility’s current instructions.
TPWODL’s Bolangir Circle, with its office on Palace Line in Balangir, covers the district through the Balangir and Titlagarh electrical divisions. Your bill shows which one serves your connection.
- Register the consumer connection on the official PM Surya Ghar portal and follow its application, feasibility and load-related instructions.
- Check the vendor available for that application and agree the equipment, installation and metering responsibilities in writing.
- Complete the required installation records and coordinate the utility’s inspection, meter arrangements and commissioning.
- Retain the commissioning documents and follow the official assistance-claim process. Approval and payment timings depend on the authorities.

05Questions
Questions about solar pumps and rooftop solar in Balangir
Why do solar pumps suit Balangir farms?
Most cultivated land in Balangir is rainfed, and the irrigated part depends on dug wells, tube wells and lift points rather than canals. A solar pump runs those sources in daylight without diesel; HELLOCON sizes each one after checking the water level, the head and the area to be watered.
Which TPWODL office serves Titlagarh?
Titlagarh falls under TPWODL’s Titlagarh Electrical Division in the Bolangir Circle. Check the division on your bill, and follow our TPWODL net-metering guide for the application.
How many homes in Balangir have rooftop solar?
TPWODL figures published on 2 September 2026 show 7,577 rooftop solar installations in Balangir district. Balangir town, Titlagarh, Patnagarh and Kantabanji are all served from our head office in Bhubaneswar.
