01Bhadrak at a glance
Rooftop solar and solar pumps for Bhadrak, Dhamnagar and Chandbali
Bhadrak lies between Balasore and Jajpur on the Bay of Bengal, with about 50 km of coastline along the Basudevpur and Chandbali blocks and the Baitarani and Salandi river systems inland. Seven blocks, two municipalities and four NACs, at Dhamra, Chandbali, Dhamnagar and Agarpada, make up a district that is still mainly agricultural, with paddy on most of its farmland.
In June 2026 a village in Dhamnagar block was declared Odisha’s first Model Solar Village after reaching 119 kW of installed solar, the highest of 12 villages assessed in the district; 115 of its 195 eligible families completed installations under the utility-led aggregation model. By 5 September 2026 TPNODL reported 6,575 rooftop solar installations across Bhadrak.
Water for crops is the other opportunity. CEEW counts 63,143 Bhadrak cultivators using diesel pumps against 2,021 on electric pumps, with 55% of the net sown area unirrigated. HELLOCON serves Bhadrak households and farms from our head office in Bhubaneswar.

02TPNODL connection
Application and metering steps for a TPNODL connection
Check the utility on your electricity bill first; a district name alone does not identify every connection. For a TPNODL household connection, use the national portal together with the utility’s current instructions.
In TPNODL’s area Bhadrak has its own circle, with two electrical divisions at Bhadrak (BNED and BSED). The division shown on your bill handles the net-metering application for a Bhadrak home.
- Register the consumer connection on the official PM Surya Ghar portal and follow its application, feasibility and load-related instructions.
- Check the vendor available for that application and agree the equipment, installation and metering responsibilities in writing.
- Complete the required installation records and coordinate the utility’s inspection, meter arrangements and commissioning.
- Retain the commissioning documents and follow the official assistance-claim process. Approval and payment timings depend on the authorities.
03Floods and the salt tract
Rooftop solar for Bhadrak’s flood blocks and saline coast
Floods are Bhadrak’s most frequent disaster. The district plan names Dhamnagar, Tihidi, Chandbali and Bhandaripokhari as the most flood-vulnerable blocks, and in August 2026 Bhandaripokhari and Tihidi were among the worst affected when the Baitarani crossed the danger level at Akhuapada.
Near the sea the hazards change. Saline soils run about 3-6 km inland across Basudevpur, Chandbali, Tihidi and parts of Dhamnagar, all 1,370 revenue villages are treated as cyclone-vulnerable, and Cyclone Dana made landfall near Dhamra in October 2024. HELLOCON manufactures its own GI mounting structures and plans the electrical layout so key equipment stays clear of standing water.

07Questions
Questions about rooftop solar and pumps in Bhadrak
What made a Dhamnagar village Odisha’s first Model Solar Village?
A village in Bhadrak’s Dhamnagar block reached 119 kW of installed solar, the highest of 12 villages assessed in the district, and 115 of its 195 eligible families completed installations under the utility-led aggregation model. It was declared Odisha’s first Model Solar Village in June 2026, with TPNODL running a registration desk at the Dhamnagar Block Office.
Can a solar pump replace a diesel pump on a Bhadrak farm?
Often, but not always. CEEW rates individually owned off-grid solar pumps and sub-HP pumps as of limited suitability in Bhadrak, so HELLOCON checks the water source, depth, head and land holding before recommending a solar pump.
Where should the inverter go in a flood-prone Bhadrak house?
High on an internal or sheltered wall, above the level water has reached in past floods, with the meter board and isolators beside it. Dhamnagar, Tihidi, Chandbali and Bhandaripokhari are the district’s most flood-vulnerable blocks.
