01Mining belt and hill farms
Rooftop, commercial and off-grid solar for Keonjhar, Joda and Barbil
Keonjhar (Kendujhar in the Odisha Gazette notice of 22 June 2026) is an inland, hilly district. Its eastern plateau sits at roughly 244 to 457 m, Mankadanacha rises to 1,117 m, and wide ranges of hills and dense forest run along its borders. There are three subdivisions, Anandapur, Champua and Keonjhar Sadar, with municipalities at Keonjhar, Joda, Barbil and Anandapur and an NAC at Champua.
The district is part of the Singhbhum-Keonjhar-Banei iron belt, and the Joda-Barbil sector holds its richest iron and manganese deposits; the 2019 disaster management plan lists 133 working mines. Away from the mining towns, CEEW’s solar pumps tool finds 87% of net sown area unirrigated, with 8,114 cultivators on diesel pumps and only 2,194 on electric pumps. Maa Tarini Temple, Khandadhar Falls and the Nomira pillow-lava monument draw visitors from across Odisha.
That mix is why a Keonjhar project can be far more than a rooftop. HELLOCON plans solar pumps for unirrigated farms, commercial and on-grid plants for businesses in the mining towns, battery-backed systems with the LiFePO₄ batteries we manufacture for remote hill villages, and PM Surya Ghar rooftop systems for TPNODL households, all coordinated from our head office in Bhubaneswar.

Solar pumps, commercial plants and off-grid systems for Keonjhar
From the farms of the plateau to the Joda-Barbil towns and the hill villages along the district’s borders.
Solar pumps for plateau farms and village water
With 87% of net sown area unirrigated and diesel pumps outnumbering electric pumps almost four to one, CEEW rates solar water-as-a-service as suitable for Keonjhar. We size each pump after checking the well or source on site, and install solar dual pumps and water kiosks for village drinking water.Commercial and industrial solar for the mining towns
Rooftop and on-grid plants for workshops, offices, hostels and processing units around Joda and Barbil, designed for the site load and delivered as EPC with O&M.Off-grid and hybrid systems for hill villages
Battery-backed systems built around LiFePO₄ batteries, which HELLOCON manufactures, for forest and hill settlements along the district’s borders.Solar street lights and masts for Keonjhar towns

03Hills, heat and lightning
Designing solar for Keonjhar’s hill plateau, heat and monsoon storms
Keonjhar’s disaster management plan describes a multi-hazard district: floods, worst in Anandapur subdivision, where the Baitarani flooded in 2000, 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2014; lightning with whirlwinds; heat waves; drought; and mining hazards. IMD normals put annual rainfall at Keonjhargarh at about 1,490 mm, most of it between June and September.
For rooftop, ground-mounted and pump installations, that means earthing and surge protection specified for frequent lightning, ventilated module rows and inverter positions for pre-monsoon heat, and structures and cable routes kept clear of flood paths around Anandapur. HELLOCON manufactures GI mounting structures for rooftops and elevated ground arrays, and for hill villages beyond reliable supply we size off-grid and hybrid systems around the daily load.

Flood-aware siting
Pump controllers, inverters and ground arrays kept above known flood levels along the Baitarani.
04TPNODL connection
Application and metering steps for a TPNODL connection
Check the utility on your electricity bill first; a district name alone does not identify every connection. For a TPNODL household connection, use the national portal together with the utility’s current instructions.
Keonjhar is one of the five circles, with Balasore, Bhadrak, Baripada and Jajpur, that TPNODL took over from NESCO. On 29 September 2026 TPNODL held a Seva Setu camp at Dhenkikote with the block administration to register PM Surya Ghar applicants.
- Register the consumer connection on the official PM Surya Ghar portal and follow its application, feasibility and load-related instructions.
- Check the vendor available for that application and agree the equipment, installation and metering responsibilities in writing.
- Complete the required installation records and coordinate the utility’s inspection, meter arrangements and commissioning.
- Retain the commissioning documents and follow the official assistance-claim process. Approval and payment timings depend on the authorities.

07Questions
Questions about solar in Keonjhar
Do solar pumps make sense on Keonjhar farms?
CEEW’s district data show 87% of Keonjhar’s net sown area unirrigated and only 2,194 cultivators on electric pumps, against 8,114 on diesel, and it rates solar water-as-a-service as suitable. HELLOCON supplies solar pumps for farms, sized after a check of the water source, and installs solar dual pumps and water kiosks for village drinking water.
Can businesses in Joda and Barbil install commercial solar?
Yes. Workshops, offices, hostels and processing units in the mining towns can use rooftop or ground-mounted on-grid plants sized to their load and connection. HELLOCON designs and builds commercial and industrial solar as EPC, manufactures the GI mounting structures and offers O&M after commissioning.
Which DISCOM serves rooftop solar customers in Keonjhar?
Keonjhar district is in TPNODL’s licence area. HELLOCON is a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor with TPNODL and coordinates surveys in Keonjhar town, Joda, Barbil, Anandapur and Champua from our head office in Bhubaneswar; our TPNODL net-metering guide explains the connection steps.
