01Pilgrim coast
Rooftop solar for Puri homes, hotels and guest houses
Puri district has about 150 km of Bay of Bengal coastline, with sandy coastal ridges and a littoral tract that separates Chilika Lake from the sea. Its one subdivision covers 11 blocks, Puri Municipality and the Konark, Nimapara and Pipili NACs.
Tourism and pilgrimage centre on the Jagannath Temple and the Konark Sun Temple, and the district’s crafts include Pipili appliqué, Raghurajpur pattachitra and Sakhigopal coir. Fishing supports prawn firms and ice factories in Puri and Brahmagiri, and farms grow rice, black gram, groundnut and vegetables, with canals supplying about 70.8% of irrigation.
That makes Puri a district of homes, hotels, guest houses and small businesses with steady electricity use, all on a cyclone coast. A Lok Sabha reply reported on 12 August 2026 listed 5,695 PM Surya Ghar installations in the district. 02Cyclone coast and salt air
Coastal-grade rooftop solar for Puri, Konark and the Brahmagiri shore
Cyclone Fani made landfall near Puri on 3 May 2019; the district plan records that it affected 1,772 villages and 33,928 ha of crops. Six blocks, Astarang, Kakatpur, Gop, Puri Sadar, Brahmagiri and Krushnaprasad, are classed as tsunami-susceptible, and 760 villages in 166 gram panchayats are flood-prone when Hirakud releases reach the delta through the Naraj barrage.
Hotels, guest houses and homes near the sea need a rooftop system specified for salt and wind. The proposal should state the anchoring method and design basis for the building, a galvanized structure with protected fixings, and sealed enclosures. HELLOCON manufactures GI solar panel mounting structures and offers operation and maintenance, including washing salt deposits off modules and checking fasteners and terminations after storms.

What Konark’s solarisation shows for solar in Puri district
A central scheme launched in May 2020 set out to solarise the Konark Sun Temple and Konark town. Implemented by OREDA with MNRE funding, it covers rooftop solar on government offices, solar drinking-water kiosks, solar street lights and EV charging in Konark.
For Puri’s hotels, institutions and panchayats, Konark is a working example of these systems in a salt-air, high-footfall setting. HELLOCON was not involved in that project; we design and supply rooftop plants, water kiosks and solar street lights for private and public buyers across the district.

Application and metering steps for a TPCODL connection
Check the utility on your electricity bill first; a district name alone does not identify every connection. For a TPCODL household connection, use the national portal together with the utility’s current instructions.
Puri town is served by TPCODL’s Puri Electrical Division under Bhubaneswar Electrical Circle II, and the Nimapara area by the Nimapara Electrical Division under Circle I; rural substations include Konark, Kakatpur, Sakhigopal and Brahmagiri. TPCODL’s first Solar Rath, launched in July 2026, was routed through Puri.
- Register the consumer connection on the official PM Surya Ghar portal and follow its application, feasibility and load-related instructions.
- Check the vendor available for that application and agree the equipment, installation and metering responsibilities in writing.
- Complete the required installation records and coordinate the utility’s inspection, meter arrangements and commissioning.
- Retain the commissioning documents and follow the official assistance-claim process. Approval and payment timings depend on the authorities.
