01Boudh at a glance

Rooftop solar, solar pumps and street lights for Boudh

Boudh (also written Baudh) is a compact district on the south bank of the Mahanadi, which forms its northern boundary with Angul beyond; the Tel marks its western edge, with Subarnapur across it, Kandhamal to the south and Nayagarh to the east (Mission Shakti). Formed in 1994 from the old Phulbani district, it has a single subdivision, three blocks (Boudh, Harabhanga and Kantamal) and 1,182 villages.

Women’s self-help groups are active across the district: they weave Sambalpuri handloom sarees, make dal, badi, papad, spices and terracotta, and many grow vegetables and farm fish with support from the Horticulture and Fisheries directorates. Heritage sites such as the Ramanath Temple, the Chari Sambhu Temple and the Buddha statues and caves draw visitors.

For its size, Boudh has taken to rooftop solar quickly: TPSODL figures reported on 11 August 2026 put it ahead of the much larger Kandhamal (649) and Malkangiri (714). HELLOCON serves Boudh from our head office in Bhubaneswar.

03TPSODL connection

Application and metering steps for a TPSODL connection

Check the utility on your electricity bill first; a district name alone does not identify every connection. For a TPSODL household connection, use the national portal together with the utility’s current instructions.

TPSODLTP Southern Odisha Distribution LimitedTPSODL net-metering guide

In TPSODL’s RTI manual, Boudh has its own electrical division (BoED) under the Bhanjanagar Electrical Circle. Check that division against your bill before you register.

  1. Register the consumer connection on the official PM Surya Ghar portal and follow its application, feasibility and load-related instructions.
  2. Check the vendor available for that application and agree the equipment, installation and metering responsibilities in writing.
  3. Complete the required installation records and coordinate the utility’s inspection, meter arrangements and commissioning.
  4. Retain the commissioning documents and follow the official assistance-claim process. Approval and payment timings depend on the authorities.

04Mahanadi valley heat

Rooftop solar for Boudh’s 45 °C Mahanadi summers

Boudh’s summers are hot and dry and its winters dry and cold, with recorded temperatures from 6.0 °C to 45.5 °C. Average annual rainfall is 1,522.95 mm, most of it in the monsoon, so Boudh roofs face long hot spells before the rains.

The design response is practical: modules raised on a ventilated GI structure made by HELLOCON, an inverter mounted in shade with room to breathe, and a cable route that keeps conductors off hot roof surfaces. For SHG processing sheds with sheet roofs, the layout leaves walkways for cleaning.

  • Raised modules

Space under the array so heat can escape from concrete terraces.

  • Inverter in shade

A ventilated, shaded wall position for the inverter and isolators.

  • Sheet-roof walkways

Cleaning paths across processing-shed roofs so every module stays reachable.
