On-grid: working with the utility supply
A grid-connected system converts solar DC into AC for connected loads. Where approved, surplus generation can be exported through a bidirectional meter. Standard grid-tied systems typically disconnect during an outage; they are not a backup supply.
Off-grid: an independent system
An off-grid system serves loads without a utility connection. Storage, generation and inverter capacity must be designed together around energy demand and autonomy. There is no single LiFePO₄ battery size that suits every site.
Hybrid: a specified combination
A hybrid system can combine solar, grid supply and storage. Its ability to provide backup depends on the inverter, protection, supported circuits and approved electrical arrangement. Confirm the intended duty rather than assuming every hybrid system has identical capabilities.
The questions that shape a design
Bring a recent electricity bill, load information, operating hours and details of outage frequency. Roof suitability, shading, sanctioned load and required backup help define the right configuration.
This guide explains general system principles. Final technical suitability and scheme eligibility require project-specific review.
